Welcome to the Trading Machine! This is the place to trade Pokémon with other Trainers.

- A trade starts by one person posting that he/she wants to trade and the other person replies he/she will trade. Once both people agree, they trade.
- If your Pokémon evolves by trading, you can use the item Cable Link (unlimited use, buy it at the PokéMart!). If an item is needed during Trade Evolution, you must buy it from the PokéMart. You can still trade evolve here for free, just be sure you buy the trading item needed and have your Pokémon hold it.
- You can't trade your Starter Pokémon to anyone. It is yours to keep forever. You can only trade-and-trade-back to evolve it, like Machoke to Machamp.
- You can trade for cash, items, Pokémon, or a mixture of any of these. You may not trade HMs that you have used.
- You can't trade any Pokémon that are participating in a current, active forum battle/contest. If you do trade, either your trade will be canceled or the battle declared over. This is done by Staff or an approver.
- Both Trainers MUST post themselves in the thread.
- Both Trainers must post the full stats for their Pokémon in their trade post. Linking to a post or page in your stats or posting an image/screenshot is not acceptable.
- Where a mart purchase was made (eg TM Case), quote or copy the relevant purchase in your post, do not just link to it.
A Pokémon/item/etc.'s valid trade value is anywhere between (median value - $2,000)/1.2 for minimum and (median value * 1.2) + $2,000. The values on both side of the trade must fall within these ranges (the min/max has to touch a median, not the opposite ends of the extremes).
Median value depends on one of four options:
- the rank of its most basic form (ex. Gyarados would be worth 4k since Magikarp is Easiest rank)
- Easiest – 4k
- Simple – 7.5k
- Medium – 15k
- Hard – 25k
- Complex – 35k
- Demanding – 47.5k
- Easiest – 4k
- PokéMart value
- Berry Store value + Ribbon value (2.5k for Normal, 5k for Super, 10k for Hyper)
- Normal: 5k + Ribbon = 7.5k
- Super: 10k + Ribbon = 15k
- Hyper: 15k + Ribbon = 25k
- Abra/Gastly: 20k + Ribbon = 30k
- Normal: 5k + Ribbon = 7.5k
- Fossil value – Fossils are worth 15k less than their average rank value. (Add 5k for revived.)
- All Hard Fossils – 5k
- Galar/Spiritomb – 15k
- Aerodactyl – 27.5k
- All Hard Fossils – 5k
A Pokémon's rank can be found on the Ultradex page for its basic stage. In the Discord server, you can also use the bot command ",rank species" (e.g. ,rank Charmander) for basic stages to find the rank and any Mart/Berry Store values if applicable.
The trade value rules do not apply to trades where both sides were purchased from the PokéMart specifically to be traded.
Example:
Monbrey wants to trade a baby Charmander with the SM Acrobatics to a new player. Charmander's median value is 14k (Mart price + SM price). The new player offers up a blank Mankey from a story he wrote. Mankey is Simple rank, so its value is 7.5k.
Based on these mons, in order to be approved, Charmander's median has to be worth less than Mankey within the equation. However, when we do the math:
Mankey (7,500) x 1.2 + 2,000 = 11,000
Charmander (14,000) < Mankey (11,000)
In this case, Charmander is too high a value. Either a new Pokémon needs to be traded or Mankey needs moves added to increase its value.
If Mankey's Trainer added TM Taunt and TM Bulk Up, that would increase Mankey's median value to 12,500. If we plug that back into the equation: Mankey (12,500) x 1.2 + 2,000 = 17k. Now the trade would be approved, as Charmander's median value (14,000) is lower than Mankey's inflated value (17,000).
