URPG December Battle Update

Quick small update before Christmas!

Gym Rental Update

This one is quick and simple. Instead of forfeiting all EMs on a Rental that you drop in gym, you can now pay a 10k fee in the Gym Thread to fully refund those EMs.

There'll be a tournament in January as well! Stay tuned!

Thank you everyone!

URPG January Battle Update

A few things we wanted to get out there ASAP; we might have some other stuff for you soon!

Street League Gym Rewards Change

Street League gyms now have more flexible rewards for a successful challenger.
The defender may now choose from the following options for a successful challenger; the options below must total to no less than 5k and no more than 10k in value:
-Cash (up to 5k)
-Any mart item(s)
-Any TMs
-Berries
-Mart Pokemon

Challengers may take a standard 5k payout if they do not want the rewards offered by the defender.
Defenders continue to receive the standard 5k win/2.5k loss payout.

Battle Royal Change

We're going to test a Battle Royal change to see if it works better and solves the issues (especially with deciding a victor) that people were having. Thanks to @Shock3600 for coming up with it!

Also, a 3 player mode will be introduced to Battle Royals! These will pay 4k/3k/2k/3k for 1st/2nd/3rd/Ref.

Battle Royals are battles between three-four players in which they all use a team of three Pokemon. When any of one Trainer’s teams is fully knocked out, the Battle Royal will end at the end of the round. Moves and Pokemon will always be sent privately. Hit-all/spread/etc moves will hit all Pokemon, but the power is reduced by 50%. Points are awarded based on knockouts from each trainer. If you knock out a Pokemon in any fashion (direct attack, indirect damage), you will receive a point for it. Trainers eliminated are placed below other players. Placing is determined by points. Total health % is tie breaker.

Another reminder that there'll be a tournament sometime later this month!

Thank you everyone!

URPG January Battle Update Numba 2

God so many things, we may even have more! Stay tuned!

Mechanics Changes

THIS IS A BIG ONE PAY ATTENTION

We're taking a preventative measure on a battle mechanic that has come up a fair bit recently, future-proofing it for the moment until we can flesh out a potential structural change to accommodate it.

Shadow Tag now has an extra line of text in its' description:

"Pokemon affected by Shadow Tag are released from Encore at the end of the turn and may no longer be encored, unless the Pokemon Encoring and Shadow Tagging is Wynaut or Wobbuffet."

Additionally, we're solidifying an etiquette-related rule.
If you wish to send Sleep Talk/Assist/etc., you must send the referee a numbered list of moves (feel free to use the ,sleeptalk function). For Assist, this list must be generated once the mon is rolled; by sending Assist, you are committing to creating a list once the mon is rolled, and the referee may confirm this with you beforehand. If this criteria is not met, the referee may refuse to ref the move, and you must send another move (or provide the list).

Clauses Change

Hey guys, we're adding yet ANOTHER Clause to battles!

Don't worry, it's a Clause that reduces Clauses needed in rulesets! Introducing: Standard Clauses!

Unless otherwise stated (see below), if Standard Clauses is chosen as the ruleset, the following clauses are in effect:
  • OHKO Clause
  • Accuracy Clause
  • Evasion Clause
  • Sleep Clause
  • Freeze Clause
  • Imprison Clause
  • Power Construct Not Allowed
  • Dynamax Not Allowed
  • Megas Not Allowed
  • Z-Moves Not Allowed
  • Default Weather and Terrain
If you wish to alter any of these to be allowed, you may list them with a - underneath Standard Clauses.

So for example, if you want the casual ruleset we currently use, you may now use the following:

6v6
SM Public Box (Default if not stated)
Standard Clauses
Helds Off

If you want to add Random Weather and Terrain and turn off Evasion Clause, you do the following:

6v6
SM Public Box (Default if not stated)
Standard Clauses
-EVA Clause OFF
-Random Weather and Terrain
Helds Off

We hope this will make things more intuitive and easier to remember for people! Additionally, feel free to use "Allowed" and "Not Allowed" (e.g. Megas Allowed, Z-Moves Not Allowed) instead of the Clauses if they confuse you!

Sky Battle Update

Ash has been working to extend Sky Battles to cover gen 7+. At the moment, this is simply an extension based on precedence and not looking to change underlying philosophy. Notably, this has been the main criteria for Pokémon eligibility (from https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Sky_Battle)
"Most Flying-type Pokémon and Pokémon with the Ability Levitate are eligible for Sky Battles. They do not lose eligibility even if they become grounded due to any in-battle effect, such as Mega Evolution, a move like Roost or Gastro Acid, or an item like the Iron Ball or Air Balloon. Pokémon that must first Mega Evolve to become Flying-type or have Levitate are not eligible. If a Pokémon can have Levitate as one of multiple Abilities and is not Flying-type, it will only be eligible if it has Levitate.
Certain Flying types and Pokémon with Levitate are ineligible for Sky Battles, such as Gengar and Hawlucha. These Pokémon are not shown flying or hovering in normal battles."

The following Pokemon will now be legal in Sky Battles:

Corvisquire
Corviknight
Trumbeak
Minior
Vikavolt
Weezing-G
Articuno-G
Moltres-G

The following Moves are now banned (any new moves not listed are legal): Terrain Pulse, Stomping Tantrum, Court Change, Body Press, Rising Voltage, Steel Roller, Jungle Healing

The Tournament has been opened for signups! Check it out here: Legendary Gym Tourney!

URPG March Battle Update

An update to Battle Rules again, and stay tuned for a Battle Section poll!

Rules Change

As of now, all Clauses are being removed, other than SLP/FRZ/ACC/EVA.

Yeah that's right; instead, you can use the "No X" or "X Allowed" officially!

We've also changed some other things, have a list!

-We've separated Battle Types and Battle Rules!
-We've updated Standard Clauses to be Standard Rules, and added all of the remaining Battle Rules to it!
-We've changed Species Clause to be no Duplicate Species, and updated the wording on it to allow Regional Pokemon among others!
-We've changed OHKO Clause to not allow the selection of those moves entirely if OHKO moves are not allowed.
-We've combined Helds and Item Clause to have 3 different options: On, Unique, or Off.
-Legendary Pokemon are no longer allowed in the Advanced League, under any circumstances.
-We've consolidated all of the Sky Battle information onto one google document managed by the Senior Referee team!
