The sandstorm rolled in ferociously right as Rhenlo hit the desert; yet more proof of Mautte's conniving presence. Rhenlo felt the sand tearing at his body, clawing away the gases as he desperately tried to reform them. Rhenlo would survive, of course; but the sand made him very uncomfortable, and he feared that if his body fully dispersed without his willing it, the Heart might become damaged. He was too far in to turn back, however, and so kept pushing forward. Right as he began to panic, the storm ceased; Rhenlo couldn't help but look with amazement as his body rebuilt itself. Rhenlo had wandered into the eye of the storm; an oasis so calm and serene, with an almost picturesque magical barrier keeping the sandstorm out.

Rhenlo floated casually to the water nearby; it was a small basin, with cool, refreshing looking water (not that Rhenlo could touch or feel it). He'd been lucky to find the oasis; obviously this was evidence that his mission was true, and he'd bring the swift hammer down on Mautte. Rhenlo couldn't help cackling to himself, thinking of the island on fire, and the desert submerged. Perhaps he'd leave this place intact for a while; Rhenlo was nothing if not gracious, in his own twisted way.

Jones the Heliolisk (Sand Veil Ability).
Rogue.
Affected RPers: Gold (Rhenlo).

At first, Jones had been afraid of the sandstorm. She'd wanted to find some way to protect her nose, her eyes, her face, from the blowing grains. But there hadn't been any shelter from the storm, and it had washed over Jones while she was still deliberating. For a moment, she'd been afraid that she would suffocate or be shredded by swirling sand, but to her shock and delight she'd discovered that this lizard body had its advantages, after all. The wind was annoying, but she could still breathe comfortably, her scales seemed to repulse the sands, and a transparent eyelid - that she was trying very hard not to think about - came down to protect her eyes.

Having learned that she was prepared, Jones quickly walked into the storm. She was still cautious, though not overly so - other Pokemon might be able to walk through the sands, and even if they weren't, Jones knew that sandstorms were to be respected. Just because the sand didn't sting her didn't mean that there weren't gale-force winds of hot air to worry about.

It took her only a few moments to cross to the other side of the storm. He nostrils flared at a fresh, clean scent - water, Jones realized. But she didn't approach quite yet. There was a Pokemon there, and she recognized this one. If she wasn't mistaken, it was the Gengar from the beach.

Jones considered her approach for a moment. She wasn't sure if she'd been seen, and she didn't fully know how to fight in this shape. But she also wasn't sure how long she could go without water.

The electricity came as soon as it was called, just like before. Jones didn't give it much charge - she simply aimed a Thunder Shock at the Gengar, a warning for what would follow if he fought her. Jones's frill snapped open menacingly as she stood to her full height and said, "Gengar. Go away. I need a drink." Her tail kept swinging, building up Charge for a much more powerful attack if the Gengar offered any sort of resistance.

Rhenlo hadn't been giggling to himself long when he felt the Thunder Shock hit him, square in the back of his ghastly body. He nearly cried out, and whirled around to see who would attack him; as far as he'd seen, the Pokemon on the island were all peace-loving buffoons. He was met with the intimidating presence of a Heliolisk; their mane was flared out wide, and Rhenlo could see the static electricity only building as it accosted him. If Rhenlo had nerves for anything other than pain, they'd be screaming about how dangerous this Heliolisk was; he suddenly remembered their presence on the beach, and how the distraction they created had let the Dark Pulse strike true. The Heliolisk wanted a drink, and didn't seem to care much about Rhenlo otherwise; like Rhenlo, they had a one-track mind, it seemed. Rhenlo made a show of stepping backwards, preparing his own Will-o-Wisp behind his back, in case the Heliolisk decided to press the attack.

"Debt repayed," he said casually, as he backed off; Rhenlo didn't much care about repaying debts or levity, but he figured it was an easy way to defuse the situation. Rhenlo couldn't help finding himself interested in this stranger, however; if they were willing to break the unwritten law of peace in this land, they could be useful in Rhenlo's quest to destroy that law.

Honestly, Jones is a little bit surprised that her attack lands so cleanly. She's pretty sure that spooks like this are usually pretty crafty, and hadn't actually been expecting to get a proper sneak attack in. For a moment, she brings the electricity to the tip of her tail, getting ready to stun the Gengar with a more decisive strike, but she stops short when the Gengar just backs off.

Debt? What debt? Jones has no idea what the Gengar is talking about. She doesn't bother asking, though, not yet. Now that the pool is unblocked, the urge to slake her thirst is almost unbearable. She lets her tail trail along the ground as she scurries to the pool's edge, discharging the electricity just a little bit at a time. Holding it is a lot of work, after all. If the ghost is going to be a pushover, she might as well let him.

But she's not going to let him get away without getting answers for herself, first. Jones finishes her drink and backs away, staring at the Gengar from across the water. She knows she's seen him before, but at that point he'd been locked in battle against an Aggron. What did she have to do with any of that? That wasn't her fight. She'd wanted no part of it then, and she wants no part of whatever quarrel the other two Pokemon have now. Jones licks the last drops off of her snout and, meeting the Gengar's eyes warily, asks, "Debt? What are you talking about?"
