It had been what seemed to be ages since he had last set foot in these mountains, but in reality it had been only a few weeks. A few weeks since his world had been set off kilter, and his connections to the other survivors altered, and his understanding of the world and this island reshaped. It was funny how so many things could change and then change again in so sort an amount of time.

The innate magnetism of this place thrummed in him as he traversed the high cliffs and lonely peaks. The floating monoliths, islands adrift in the open sky, were just as impressive a sight as they had been before. A beautiful wonder of the island. Time spent exploring Mautte, and talking to the other inhabitants, and generally living had calmed him since the last traumatic visit to this place. He had worried that his past experience here would soil it. But he found it just as easy to admire as he had before.

He found himself perching, precariously, at the edge of a small cliff; really it was more of a steep embankment, but given his relative size to it, it may as well have been a cliffside. More than than, it bled off into an actual cliff, plummeting far below into the mists that obscured the ground of the valley far below. The view was simply breathtaking. Unwittingly he leaning into it, attempting to better see one of the massive floating islands as it floated serenely through a low-leaning cloud.

A soft patter of dirt and a gently snap as whatever roots held it in place broke was the only warning he had before he found himself suddenly sliding rapidly down towards the edge.

Panic. Electricity sparks instinctively from him as he slides, claws scrabbling desperately for purchase. The heavy feeling of magnetism in his chest, simultaneously grounding him and making him feel weightless. How desperately he wished it actually made him weightless. He tries to grip the clay and stone to halt his descent but it all slips away. Tries to reach out for something to grab but finds nothing. The edge is racing closer and there's nothing to stop him and oh what a stupid way to die and please anyone or anything stop this; let him live, let him fly, let him float away in the breeze and not fall down to his death and the cliff is coming to an end-

Wind rushes past for a moment. Another. He violent throws lighting into the sky, fills himself with it, body twisting so at least he'll land on his feet however far below it lands.

And then the weightlessness is back, so much stronger than it ever had been before. He grasps at it, and suddenly, its everywhere, and the wind is gone. Eyes that had previously been thrown shut in terror slowly pry themselves open, and are greeted by open sky and the face of the cliff next to him. And blow his feet nothing but open air, and the thrum of an unseen force, accentuated by a stream of sparks from his claws were they gripped the air. He thought he must be dead but then he could still feel the breeze as it went past, and could till see the magnificent mountains flying besides him, and he couldn't imagine something so specific following him into death.

He hung there, floating on a bed of sparks and air, wondering what had happened, and what he was meant to do next.

(To clarify, the dummy accidentally used a suped up version of Magnet Rise to Fly in a panic. Pikachu gets the move Fly but I couldn't think how to justify him just taking off, so I figured using the Stepping Stones natural magnetic fields to power up Magnet rise made sense; if it can lift a mountain a rat shouldn't be a problem lmao.)

Jotunn glided from rock to rock, adapting to the strange terrain after some time of exploring the airborne mountains. He liked it here. The natural magnetism felt good to his steel frame, and assisting with his limited flight capabilities to boot. While his training had advanced his technique considerably since he had mysteriously arrived on the island, he still had problems with continuous flight that did not involve copious gliding. The hovering rocks were a perfect spot to traverse large swathes of land without having to ascend repeatedly; he could go to a fresh islet, rest and take in the view, then repeat the process. He had taken the time to mentally map numerous different landmasses throughout the edge of the mountain range, even having what could be considered a rough shelter of sorts in a cave. It was high and centrally located, a perfect place to rest at the end of the day.

His stomach grumbled, signalling that it had been too long since he last ate. He landed on the nearest solid outcrop he could find, and looked for something edible enough to satiate his current needs. He had not found much of the food to his liking, but it served its purpose and left him with enough energy for his explorations. As he surveyed the local monoliths for berries, he noticed movement up above. A yellow form was dropping from one of the upper rock faces, and seemed to be flailing wildly. Jotunn, momentarily forgetting his bodily needs, raced towards the edge of his landmass and launched himself, perhaps running his wings a bit hotter than would have normally be healthy. He launched upwards, trying to decide how best to catch the small form in his dangerously pointy claws. As he neared the panicking figure, he felt an electrical surge go around and through him. It was not an altogether pleasant feeling, and it took a moment for him to realize he was now falling. He caught himself, wings now numb from the recent lightning bolt, and turned to see the small being. floating in the sky, It seemed as unnatural to him as it seemed to the rodent, who was looking around perplexed.

He rose himself to the height of the diminutive mouse being cautiously, realizing he had seen it in the distance back when he had arrived at the island. Apparently it had survived the past few weeks without too much trouble, though its current situation seemed somewhat unsafe. "So I must ask, how is a being such as yourself flying? Was it related to that wonderful jolt you gave me a moment ago?"

The sudden appearance of the metal mantis sent what control he seemed to have of the strange magnetic field under his feet out the window, and he started spinning wildly for a moment. Another show of sparks and terror, and he managed to stop himself, but the entire scenario was disorienting and upsetting in the extreme. The sudden questioning really wasn't helping the situation much.

"I'm- I don't know. I fell and- what in the hell is going on!?!?" it was hard to care much about accidentally scaring the other or shocking them when he was currently floating several thousand feet above sea level. Decidedly not a position a Pikachu was meant to be in.
