Rhenlo had heard the rumors on the winds; his shadow form allowed him to go nearly undetected by most Pokemon, as long as he stayed far enough away. He'd heard from many of them of the treasures that could be found in this place; backpacks, knives, capes, and all sorts of interesting items. The One had imparted some knowledge about items to Rhenlo after their first encounter, though even The One knew not how they were made or where they came from. The One didn't much care, either; though they'd love to get items to turn against the island, The One was also suspicious of anything given by Mautte. Rhenlo, however, was intensely interested, and today would be the day he'd claim something from the treasury of the Bluff.

Rhenlo walked along the rocks, treacherous footing easily avoided by Rhenlo's ability to fly. The pain Rhenlo felt most days was at a low hum; he felt the Heart siphoning some of it off, and instinctively ran one of his claws over the red jewel in the center. He couldn't imagine not having the Heart; perhaps he'd find something to go along with it here?

Materialistic trinkets of representative power were... well, sort of the Bluff's thing. The sea greedily swallows what the humans bring within its grasp, forever hungry, and deposits it on the Bluff after passing judgement. The scales of the sea's justice were slowly weighed. Sometimes, things circulated in its vast currents for years, for decades, for centuries. One never knew when something would emerge or what it would be.

A particularly fierce storm dredges up something interesting. On the wide stretch of treacherously-slippery rocks and boulders of the Bluff, the metal skeleton of a small ship washes ashore. Wood hangs precariously from much of its frame, splintered and fractured in countless spots, with more planks missing than present. Its ruined mast column droops over the front like a great, splintered horn pointing inland. The sails drape like a ghoul's cloak across the ruined frame.

Salty wind sweeps across the Bluff, passing harmlessly through the ghostly figure of Rhenlo as he floats over the beach's unfriendly surface. The breeze whistles through the gaps in the wooden planks, creating a high, almost ominous wailing that emanates from the phantom ship, almost as if Mautte calls to Rhenlo and The One within him.

Rhenlo quickly noticed the ship; the fractured, fallen mast and the sails attached to them the first thing that caught his eye. He heard the whistling through the ships planks; it irritated him, and he wished he could shut out the noise. Much to Rhenlo's chagrin, on sighting the ship The One spoke to him for the first time since its awakening. "Go in," it said, vanishing like smoke back to whatever corner of Rhenlo's mind it occupied. Rhenlo begrudgingly obliged, unwilling to defy a direct order from The One, and began floating down to the slick surface of the ship. It was small compared to the cove it rested in, but still big compared to Rhenlo; the old wood was wet and creaking but still strong enough to stay intact(ish), and the smell of salt and ocean water was ripe throughout. The deck was cut short by the shattered mast and sails in front of him, but behind Rhenlo there were a few holes that led further into the heart of the ship. Of course, with his body Rhenlo could pass through it with ease, but that involved more pain than Rhenlo was willing to go through. With a spring to his levitating step, Rhenlo passed through the hole and descended into the hull.

The ship seems to await his presence, its whistling falling eerily more quiet as the shadowy figure enters it. The skeleton vessel welcomes the Gengar into its cavernous stomach. Within, darkness prevails. Dusty shafts of light pierce the shadow through the unsteady cracks above. Its innards are mostly barren from this view, with so much washed out to sea that there's almost nothing left of its hull. Its underbelly had been dragged over the jagged rocks of the ocean's bottom, gutting the front of its bottom almost completely. Damp sand devours the part to Rhenlo's right, and to the left, barely visible past the spears of light cascading in, is a half-collapsed wall with a door barely hanging by its hinges, having somehow survived the wrath of the sea.

The sea washes up between Rhenlo and that door, the tides sweeping in and receding even as he enters. The water bubbles up from the cracks in what is barely left of the front part of the ship's middle floor. It drifts through Rhenlo's shadowy figure. Each time it recedes, it seems like it beckons Rhenlo more fiercely into the depths.

Rhenlo felt the humidity as he entered, the air palpable with ocean water and age. Most of the ship was damaged or destroyed whenever it came ashore; large deposits of debris and sand ebbed and flowed with the tide. Rhenlo saw the entrance opposite the hole he had meandered through; the water almost seemed to beckon him forward, pushing him deeper into the hull. It almost would have felt suffocating, though Rhenlo managed to avoid most of the eeriness by virtue of his body. Might as well go then, Rhenlo thought. He didn't like the idea of something dictating where he went, both Mautte and The One, but he was already here, and the rest of the room he was in was bare. He floated carefully over to the door, and carefully stepped over the threshold.
